Part 3 of a Travel Series: In My Backpack Travel Tech

Keeping it simple… as simple as I can bear. About a month ago, a friend asked me what makeup I use and I gave her a very detailed explanation view text and I thought to myself, I should just post this. Now, by posting this I’m not saying I’m some sort of beauty/makeup guru or that I am amazing at applying makeup, etc this is just what I use. This is what (barely) fits in a small makeup bag I have and this is enough makeup for me to get by. I normally like to get very inventive with makeup and I honestly have had way too much makeup in my life but I’m not planning on attending anything extra fancy while in Europe, so what I’ve brought is just enough. No primers, eyeshadows, highlighters, etc.

I use Murad Oil-Control Mattifier Moisturizer ($39.50) as my base and then add a bit of Ole Henriksen SPF ($35) on top because I want extra SPF coverage, and the Murad moisturizer makes me too matte. I probably won’t repurchase this moisturizer because it literally feels (and looks) like white glue. I’ll probably buy a new one soon and save this for a light out where I want to look polished and don’t mind how heavy it is. I’ve been using this brand of sunscreen for a while and I love it, and I’m my second or third bottle. It’s 50 SPF and also smells really good. Using a Real Techniques brush ($10), I’ll buff in CoverFX Mattifying BB Gel, a foundation that I have really enjoyed using. It stays pretty matte even if I just put it on over my sunscreen, but it’s pretty expensive (~$50). I’m going to be really sad when I have to go buy a replacement bottle.

I love cream products because they seriously last forever. They tend to be more pigmented than pressed powders so they go a long way. I have two blushes depending on how I’m feeling that day. The coral pot is by MAC ($21) and it’s verrry pigmented, can be used in a variety of ways, and has lasted ages. The beige pink one is by Stila and it’s a sample that I’ve had for a long time. If you see a cream blush sample: get it. This is called Convertible Color and you can technically use it on your cheeks, lips, eyes and expect long lasting wear.

For my brows, I have found a miracle product: Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade ($18) This shit is amazing. The end. I may have bought a slightly darker color than suits me but really you can apply this very lightly, and it has a similar effect to powder. Or you can go crazy heavy and rock some really fashion browns. It’s awesome and I apply it with a MAC 263 angled brush ($20).

Eyes are very simple, either a bit of benefit’s BADgal Waterproof eyeliner tightlinned and on the outer corner or Magic Ink Liquid Eyeliner along the edge with a small wing tip. When I’m feeling cute I’ll add some Colossal Volum’ on my lashes but for everyday that makes me look too done up. I do really wish I had They’re Real!… Ugh, best mascara ever.

Well that’s what I’ve brought with me! What’s your favorite brand? Do you have some products that you just can’t live without?? Let me know!
