The French Riviera, or rather the Côte d’Azur, is a long, winding coast full of charming towns with some of the world’s most beautiful beaches and bays. It’s no wonder this place is so incredibly popular and a bus ride I took along the coast proved this to me. On a sunny day while visiting Nice, I took the 100 bus from Place Garibaldi to Monte Carlo, a 45-55 minute bus ride right on the coast, all for just 1.50 euro and the best views you can get on public transport. I say this because I took the TER from Ventimiglia to Nice Ville, and while the view was nice, the three times I rode the train the windows were so dirty you could barely see outside. It is also typically set farther back on the coast than the bus so you get a clearer view from the bus. Also, if you get motion sickness, like me, pop a half dramamine before getting on this bus. You’ve been warned, haha.

On the way, there I took a quick stop at Villefranche, based on a tip from my new friend Val, from the awesome Victoria House Hostel. It was so worth it! Such a cute town, full of colorful architecture, and turns out it is considered one of the most beautiful bays in the whole Côte d’Azur.

If you’re visiting Nice some time soon, I highly recommend taking this bus to Monte Carlo!
