CHECK OUT THE NEW PRODUCTS THAT HAVE ENTERED MY DAY TO DAY MAKEUP BAG…
The light on my vanity this morning inspired me to get going on this post already!
I wanted to share some new makeup I’ve picked up in the last couple months and have loved. These have passed the test of sticking with me even through my travels, which is a big deal for me cause I’m lazy at packing.
The products are from MAC and Glossier. I actually did a huge haul of Glossier products because I was so curious and hadn’t tried any of their products. So I went for it and bought a bunch of stuff. Some were hits… and others major misses.
I have been using MAC lipsticks and cream blush for a while but never tried any of their foundation or powders because of how much I dislike their concealers. Well, I went for it and bought a foundation and powder. The powder has passed the test and is one of my favorite products now.
SO HERE WE GO…
Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam – Loooove this. I’ve always been a fan of cream blushes (I love MAC cream color bases) and this product is really great. The best thing about it is that you really can’t overdo it because it builds very gently. I particularly love this color with my complexion. Gives my skin a bit of life and I appreciate the dewiness it brings to my skin.
My BIG con: While I do love this product, it’s very small for the price ($18) and I don’t expect it to last very long. While I don’t mind spending on good products, this kinda doesn’t do it for me. When this product runs out I’m most likely going to find a matching cream color base that will literally last me years and is super pigmented for the same price.
Glossier Haloscope in Topaz – Ok, this is the real sh*t. Love haloscope. I have had all kinds of problems trying to find the right highlighter. I’ve tried a whole bunch from powder to cream and in between (like Becca Shimmering Perfector in Moonstone) but I have to admit this is my favorite so far. I’m not a super fan of the tube feel (feels a little cheap) but it is the best way to apply the product. Swipe and blend with the finger tips.
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish – I have to admit I’m not a super lover of powder, but I really like this product. As a teen, I only used powder foundations, like BareMinerals, and the quality of this pressed powder reminds me of that (I prefer pressed btw). I also use Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder in Mousseline Pastel but the color I picked might not have been the best. I like this Mac powder because I can use it to finish my base or on its own when I’m lazy and just want to look a little better than barefaced. It smooths my skin and removes shine.
Products that I tried and didnt measure up…
Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint – This work for the beautiful models in their ads and thats about it. Thats “glow” they advertise… didn’t work for me. I barely noticed the tint and overall it wasn’t for me. I’ve used it as a moisturizer and it was ok. Feel pretty meh about it.
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser – People love this… and it’s like the basis of Glossier’s brand. Not a fan. I don’t get it. I didn’t get that super clean feeling. Of all the cleansers I’ve ever used, Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash is my favorite. It’s crazy cheap, you can use a Clarisonic or your hands, and it really leaves your face clean.
MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation – SO it’s kinda harsh for me to put this in #fail category because I actually like this foundation. It feels good, has great coverage and looks nice in photos. Only thing is that Miami is way too hot and embarrassingly enough my face gets real misty (read: sweaty) out here. Any moisture on your face will literally sit on top of this and give you the worst SULA ever. Conclusion: Great for winter and colder climates.
For those of you that don’t know, SULA: Sweaty Upper Lip Affliction
