As I mentioned in my last post, Santorini is an great place for walking and hiking. With views like Santorini has, it’s great distraction even on strenuous paths, haha.

As soon as my dad, sister, and I arrived to Santorini we met up with some of my friends who happened to be on their honeymoon and started the hike from Fira to Oia. This hike takes about 3 hours under the cloudless sky so bring your sunscreen and water but I’ve got a couple more tips:

  • Head out as early as you can before the sun gets too hot! Also, grab a good breakfast beforehand, you’ll need the energy.
  • Wear comfortable shoes, preferably closed toe shoes because there will be parts of the path made up of loose pumice stone.
  • Don’t forget your camera! You’ll want to snap a pic/selfie every couple minutes!
  • Don’t skip out on Skaros Rock! This detour from Imerovigli takes about half an hour down and back up but the views back to Firostefani are great!
  • Grab lunch with a view in Oia! You’ll be dying to grab a seat after that strenous hike and why not enjoy lunch with your choice of Greek beer: Alfa, Fix, Mythos…
  • Gelato at Lolitas! Necessary even after a satisfying lunch and beer because the day will be HOT!

There are plentyyy of other walks/hikes on the island to choose from including a volcano walk! From Fira take the cable car down to the port followed by a quick boat ride to the caldera of Nea Kameni. How many people do you know that have hiked on a volcano?! Hopefully these tips help you out! Let me know if you try these places out on your trip to Santorini!

Check out these pics and follow our trek from Fira to Oia!
