7: Fake It ’til You Make It

7: Fake It ’til You Make It

Hey guys! This is the last entry of the “Words to Live By” Series! I hope you all have enjoyed the quotes and encouraging words!

Today I’m featuring a quote that Delia suggested, “Fake It ’til You Make It.” This quote is really about finding what you want to be and emulating the qualities of a person in that position. So, if you would like to be a CEO, find out what a CEO does and do it yourself.

If you would like to be at a higher level at work, observe how your superiors act. They might have great leadership skills or be very good at mediating tasks among people. Learn ways to improve yourself and envision yourself in their shoes. Believe that you can, and you will. Before you know it, your boss and peers will notice the change in you and your actions will show that you are ready to move up.

With this process you are actively working towards a goal, not simply waiting for someone to put blind faith in you and believe you can do the job.

When I wake up in the morning, despite not having a job right now, I believe I am a very busy person. I plan out my day and create work for myself because I want this summer that I have off to be a very productive and fruitful one. I TRY to wake up early, get in a good breakfast and workout everyday before 11. Then I’ll come home, have lunch and start “working” by 1-2 pm. Before I know it, I have been at my desk thinking up ideas, drawing and researching for my trip to Italy for at least 6 hours. This intention to be a “busy” person has helped me finish my portfolio, website, create blog posts and have time to do creative work like drawing and logo design. I remember my last summer off, which was between high school and college, I would just be lazy alllll day and by August I would ask myself, “Wait… what did I do this summer?” and I wasn’t about to let that happen to me again.

There you go guys! The last of the series… Stay tuned for another series in the near future on a different topic and I will be taking requests for quotes!
